Romantics Anonymous (2010)

IMDB Synopsis:

What happens when a man and a woman share a common passion? They fall in love. And this is what happens to Jean-René, the boss of a small chocolate factory, and Angélique, a gifted chocolate maker he has just hired. What occurs when a highly emotional man meets a highly emotional woman? They fall in love, and this is what occurs to Jean-René and Angélique who share the same handicap. But being pathologically timid does not make things easy for them. So whether they will manage to get together, join their solitudes and live happily ever after is a guessing matter

So I watched this movie on Netflix out of sheer curiosity due to my recent obsession with French films. I’m really glad I did, because an aspiring screenwriter, this is exactly the kind of movie I would love to create. Yes, it is a romantic comedy, which seems like an embarrassing thing to admit I like. However, this is a really good movie! The cast delivers a beautiful performance and the individual charisma each actor brings to his/her respective role is adorable. I love this idea of two horrendously flawed people falling in love while they share an odd passion, in this case, the neurotic Angelique and Jean-Rene who both love chocolate. The plot was well developed, leading to a satisfying climax and ending. The cinematography was nothing special. The film really shined when it came to dialogue and performance. The set design and costume design was very fitting to express the characters, which a skilled set designer and skilled costume designer should be. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and it will probably be on my list of my favorite movies!
